When you see the
"Continue"
button at the bottom
of the page you have
finished selecting
all Required options.
There are 7 possible Main Component Categories to choose items in to build your Custom 108 Bead Mala.

There is a brief description of each component below the heading. Four of them, Main Beads, Guru Bead, Tassel/Pendant, and Cord color are REQUIRED. The other 3 are all optional.

Keep in mind the color scheme you are envisioning throughout the design process. Choose colors, tones, and themes that work well together. But, this is your Mala so experiment and do whatever you want!

At the end of the Configuration process you can view the Design Summary and go back and change or delete any Component.

1) Main Beads (required)
At this step you will be able to choose the main bead type of your 108 bead Mala.

You will be presented with many different types of semi-precious stones as well as Sandalwood, Rosewood, Lotus Seed, and Bodhi Seed. If you want a bead type that you don't see please don't hesitate to email me.

Also, you will have the opportunity to upgrade from the default 8mm Beads to larger 10mm Beads. This is not available for Lotus, Sandalwood, or Bodhi since I have only one size for these beads.
2) Guru Bead (required)
The Guru Bead, also known as the Head Bead, is the center of the Mala and is where your Tassel or a Pendant will come from.

I hand drill all Guru Beads with a diamond-tipped rotary bit so there is a hole perpendicular to the main through-hole. It is from this perpendicular hole that the Tassel or Pendant hangs.

If your Main Beads are 8mm I will use a 10mm Guru; if your Main Beads are up-sized to 10mm then I will use a 12mm guru Bead.
3) Pendant/Tassel/Snake-Knot (required)
At this step that you can choose your Tassel, Pendant, or Snake-Knot. If you choose a Pendant pay attention to the size of the Pendant as compared to the overall size of the Mala.
4) Cord Color and Spacer Options (required)
All of the Malas I make are strung on either .8mm or 1.5mm Chinese Knotting Cord. This cord is stronger than any "wire" beading media and will resist fraying. At this step you can choose your Cord color. You can also add optional sterling silver spacers or hand-knotting

If you selected the Snake Knot option above the Snake Knot will be the same color as the cord.
5) Extension Bead
By default your Extension Bead will be two stacked 8mm beads of the same type as your Guru Bead representing the Dharma and the Sangha. At this step, however, you can optionally select something else as your Extension.
6) Marker Beads
You have the option of adding Marker Beads in one of these three styles (click to see image):

Also, if you want your Markers at special intervals that aren't listed please don't hesitate to email me.

For some of the stones you can upgrade to 10mm beads instead of the default 8mm just as with the Main Beads.

If you plan on counting with your Mala I highly recommend that you add marker off-sets at the next stage or up-size your marker beads at this stage (or both). Otherwise you will not be able to tell the difference between the main beads and the markers beads by touch.
7) Marker off-set
You also have the option of adding Marker Off-Sets to go on each side of the Marker Bead(s). These will set the Marker Bead off more noticeably from the surrounding Main Beads.
8) Mala Bag
Your 27ct, 54ct, or 108ct Mala will come with a free, smaller and simpler Mala bag. If you wish you can upgrade to a higher quality Mala bag here.

These are $3.00 less than if you bought them by themselves.
